Endorsement for Mike Morrison for Chelan Co. Sheriff

August 28, 2022

I have known Mike Morrison for 8 years; I have had the privilege of supervising him for approximately 4 of the 8 years he has been with the Chelan County Sheriff's Office. My observations about Mike are based on firsthand knowledge of his quality of his work, personal character, work ethic, dedication, and performance.

Mike's performance of his duties as a deputy and school resource officer have been exemplary. As his supervisor, I could trust that his research into matters was both objective and complete. As a school resource officer, he has conducted several extensive child-crime investigations and did so with excellence. As a deputy, he has always been very proactive while remaining professional. In addition to his responsibilities as a patrol deputy and school resource officer, Mike was the lead Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVOC) instructor; his attention to detail and passion for safety and instruction was excellent. During his time with the Sheriff's Office, Mike has received two life-saving awards and has served as a member of the Search and Rescue Team, the Swift Water Rescue Team, and the High Angle Rope Rescue Team. While Mike Coordinated and lead the EVOC program and served as SRO for the Cascade School District, he did so with a high degree of professionalism and efficiency. Both programs were made better under Mike's involvement.

In addition to all of his duties, Mike was voted by the deputies to be the President of the Deputy Sheriff's Association Board. This is an unpaid position which requires a significant amount of personal time. I served with Mike on this Board and I can personally speak to his passion for his fellow officers, their rights to be fairly represented, and the overall well-being of the Sheriff's Department. He was able to always work from a standpoint of seeing both sides while remaining professional and fair. This is no easy task and takes a balanced, objective approach, one which Mike consistently displays.

I believe Mike would be an excellent Sheriff. He is a very bright man who believes that meeting the needs of the community and the needs of the deputies are both able to be accomplished and need to be accomplished to have the best outcome for all. He understands what it is like to serve - day in and day out - and understands the needs of the business owners and the citizens of Chelan County. He has received endorsements from not only myself, a 27-year veteran at Chelan County Sheriff's Office, but countless others who have served at the Sheriff's Office. His balanced approach and ability to listen to the needs of the community and the deputies sets him apart from others.

Respectfully Submitted,
